When my kids were little, they thought snapdragons were called “hello flowers,” because we always made then say, “hello!” when we went in the garden. This little nursery rhyme is about that time~
White, yellow, pink and red,
the snapdragon raises its friendly head.
I squeeze its neck along the side
it opens its mouth, very wide.
“Hello, hello, hello!” I say.
“Talk, snapdragon, I want to play.”
I try to make it bite my nose,
but the gentle snapdragon
slips off, closed.
